BrightonSEO started out as a few people meeting in an upstairs room at a pub. In just a few short years it has quickly become one of the most popular and respected natural search conferences in the UK, with tickets selling out in less than 13 minutes. Hands on, relevant and detailed, BrightonSEO brings together industry insiders twice a year.

Prior to visiting BrightonSEO I was hoping to learn more about upcoming trends within the industry. As soon as I arrived I could sense an immediate buzz of energy, everyone is there to learn, engage and enjoy.

Like most conferences BrightonSEO offered a range of brand new, innovative insights and best practice updates. The agenda for the day was packed full with a host of entertaining and knowledgeable speakers from the industry offering insightful and informative talks. The sessions I attended covered a broad spectrum of subject topics including online PR, content marketing, content strategy and outreach.

One of my favourite talks of the day was from Shannon McGuirk who discussed the world of digital PR. Shannon is the head of PR and content at Aira. She has experience in working with well-known brands such as Vouchercloud, RS Components, Goodyear Tyres, AXA PPP healthcare and Poundland. During her engaging presentation Shannon spoke in depth about news hooks, what they are and how you can make the most of them in digital PR and link building strategies. She says that there is good content; content that is well designed, has a great back story and comes from a well-designed brand, but then there is also good content that gets links.

Overall I have taken a lot of inspiration from the talks at Brighton SEO this year and would definitely encourage people to go along next year as it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and one that I have benefitted from.
