In recent months we have seen the cancellation of many exhibitions and events, an unfortunate but understandable consequence of COVID-19. However, this has not stopped us from planning and executing conferences and get-togethers. We are now taking our plans digital. So, how do you attract people to attend your digital events? For our latest press launch we went with cocktails…… well, not just cocktails, the strong message and newsworthy content we had to share was vital but cocktail hour didn’t hurt either.

Last week we organised a digital press conference with our client the British Institute of KBB Installation (BIKBBI) and invited key journalists from the trade and consumer media to attend. The event’s main objective was to launch the association’s Protected initiative, a new platform that helps homeowners find, appoint and transact with specialist kitchen and bathroom installers, something that has been missing within the industry until now. This was an important launch and one that we did not want to delay due to the current circumstances, that’s why taking this event online was the perfect solution.

The event itself was held on Zoom as a webinar and we invited a panel to speak about their experience of kitchen and bathroom installation and share their thoughts on how the new Protected scheme would help them. Their insights really added to the impact of the press conference and provided gravity to the important message we wanted to get across to the audience.

It was a huge success with the media engaging with us on social media before the event started as well as during, there were some fantastic selfies with cocktails in hand. We received extremely positive feedback and almost as soon as the event finished we were achieving coverage about the launch – this includes pieces in Installer Magazine, Designerati, Insight DIY and kbbdaily.

This was a very important launch for our client and we were delighted to be able to support them with a successful digital press conference.

What we have found is that although physical events have been postponed for now, we all still want to interact with others and feel connected. That is why when you know your audience, you know what they care about and you know your message, virtual events can have the same impact as physical events.
